After the UCI ruled its design too extreme for road time-trials, it went on to win many triathlon victories in the hands of champions like Caroline Steffen and Luke McKenzie. VENTUS II has a new, more-curvaceous basebar and a host of detail revisions for greater security and robustness. The aerodynamics of the whole assembly were optimized in the Mercedes-Petronas windtunnel, and the new, more-elegant integrated stem preserves the basebar at its optimum angle of incidence to the wind. 3T reviewed every aspect of the unit's construction in response to reports from athletes in the field. The elbow-rest supports now fit into a recess on the top skin of the basebar so they cannot skew out of true. Also improved are the handholds and grips, which in some conditions could slip on the handholds. VENTUS II is now even more reliable for an extended service life in élite competition. A full range of adjustment optimizes rider position, so athletes with widely differing physiques fit VENTUS II perfectly. The extension bars adjust front-rear for reach, and vertically for height. Elbow pads move with the extensions, preserving a constant relationship between hands and elbows. Standard straight extensions can be swapped for straight or ski-bend extensions, available as 3T Accessories. In its new evolution, VENTUS II builds on 3T's competition experience with VENTUS, and remains the foremost expression of ultimate performance by 3T. 730g specs
