BB86-BB92 bottom brackets were developed support adding stiffness to the entire structure around the bottom bracket shell. Bearings for BB86-BB92 bottom brackets use small composite cups pressed into the frame.
The BB86 and BB92 press-fit bottom bracket standard commonly used on Giant, Scott and Pivot bikes comes in two specs.
The standard works with common crank widths (e.g. road, mtb and boost) and offers some weight advantage over threaded alloy bottom brackets.
Differences between the two versions are based on the type of bike with the road standard being 86.5mm wide, 41mm inner diameter, while the mountain bike BB92 spec being 92 or 89.5mm wide, same 41mm inner diameter.
The 41mm inner diameter spec refers to space allocated to house the actual bearings cups, not the diameter of your crank spindle which typically is 24mm or 30mm.
The bottom brackets between our two seal options are the same. It is perfectly OK to install a BB92-BB86 bottom bracket with "cross" seals on a road or gravel bike for extra protection.
All Kogel BB86-BB92 press-fit ceramic bottom brackets come with our standard warranty and features.

This bottom bracket fits almost any 30mm spindle crank on a BB86 (road) or BB92 (mtb) frame.
Before ordering, check that your crank spindle is long enough for the wider BB shell. Traditional BB24 (typically pre-2014) and Specialized FACT crank sets will have a spindle that is too short for the frame shell.
Although the crank and frame dimensions are slightly different, the bottom brackets are the same between BB86 and BB92. Choose road seals for road use and cross seals for mtb, cyclocross or frequent riding on wet roads.
